Jeff Mezzrow – Guitar | Vocals
Born on the south side of Chicago in 1954, and moved by the blues music that surrounded him, Jeff Mezzrow became a fan of music, and musicians. His dedication to, and love of, the guitar and singing, naturally brought his journey full circle….. Eventually becoming an amazing songwriter and performer, with fans of his own.
A couple of months after seeing his hero, blues great Albert King, perform at his High School prom, Jeff moved to Boston and played in several bands, over the next decade, reinforcing and honing his natural talent on the road.
It’s 1980, and Mezzrow has a date with destiny. With unconditional love for the volume, the sweat, the party, and, most importantly, the song……. he forms a hard rocking, soul driven trio, called MEZZ, and never looks back.
Decades later, with an amazing catalog of recordings, and thousands of gigs behind him, Jeff is now reunited with the original, killer MEZZ rhythm section of Rick Kolow, on bass, and Stephen Hart, on drums. The group are planning US and Europe touring dates, and new recordings in 2014/2015.
Rick Kolow – Bass Guitar
There are a lot of guys in rock and roll bands who ended up “playing the bass”. There are fewer guys who move beyond playing the bass to become legitimate “bass players”. Then, there are an elite, special, few, who have mastered the art of being the consummate, anonymous team player, and a stand-alone shining star at the same time. A character with character.
Rick Kolow was born in the suburbs of Boston Massachusetts, and grew up on a steady diet of British Invasion and American classic rock artists.
His life story is full of ups and downs, travel, risk, and reward. This depth of life experience has always had a soundtrack, a home, a beneficiary……….. The incredible MEZZ Band, which he co-founded with lifelong fellow traveler, Jeff Mezzrow. With pick in hand, quiet confidence, and a loud bass rig, Kolow’s and MEZZ’ story will continue with new recordings and touring in 2014/2015.
Stephen Hart – Drums | Vocals
Plucked from Boston’s hard rock music scene in late 1992 by MEZZ founders Jeff Mezzrow and Rick Kolow, Stephen Hart’s style fell right in line with where the band was heading, as they sought to infuse more rock into their rockin’ blues and soul.
Stephen recorded four records, and toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe as an active member of MEZZ from late 1992 through the end of 1996, and returned for tours in the summer of ’98 and the winter of ’99.
Between then and now, he reconnected with his hard rock and metal roots in post-metal noise makers, CLAYMORE, dropped tuning songsmiths, GIVE, Boston power pop punk legends THE OUTLETS and THE PEASANTS and many more. But, manning the drums in THE DAVID HULL BAND, in recent years, has seamlessly steered Stephen’s musical arc back towards rockin’ blues, and a reunion with the seminal “She’s To Die For” MEZZ line-up.
